Jez Butterworth

Jez Butterworth was born in London in 1969 and began writing at Cambridge University. His screenwriting credits include Mojo (1998), The Last Legion (2007), Birthday Girl (2002), Fair Game (Winner of the Paul Selvin Award, 2010), Get on Up (2014), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), and Black Mass (2015). His theatre work has been performed all over the world, in the West End and on Broadway, winning many awards including, in 2007, The E.M Forster award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His play Jerusalem (2009) won Best Foreign Play at the 2011 New York Critics Circle Awards, and received six Tony nominations, winning two including for Best Actor for Mark Rylance for his portrayal of Rooster Byron. 2014 saw the U.S Premier of The River, starring Hugh Jackman, on Broadway. He lives in London (across the hall from his brother John Henry), and Somerset.
